# Agentic commerce

> Agentic commerce is when AI agents discover, compare and purchase products on behalf of users, often via checkout protocols.

Agentic commerce requires machine-readable product data (price, availability, variants), policies, checkout deep links or protocol integration, and trust signals. Most Shopify apps only prepare data; claiming full agentic checkout without protocol integration is misleading.
